Tinker Taylor Soldier Spy is a zine continuing my work with the grotesque as an alternative method to the grotesqueries that AI hallucinates in our use of image generation by using the image of Taylor Swift as a base. By distorting an image, and especially celebrity (which is an image we pour our attention into) we imbue it with power, casting the magic spells of Carvinal and Grotesque Realism that Mikhail Bakhtin argued are in the locus of what we talk about when we talk about the body and what we talk about when we talk about people.
I have also introduced experiments using typography in the service of Magick Sigils, in which magical intention (like a common "spell") is encoded through process and application of artwork. The merger of the transformed body and the transformed typography at the service of the esoteric and mystical is a great example how we OUGHT to look at AI rather than how it is currently employed. AI should be a disruptor of expectation and not a disruptor of what makes us unique.
